2026 Colorado Sales Tax Rate Changes

Effective 1/1/2026:
Beginning January 1, 2026, retailers may no longer retain the state sales tax service fee. However, retailers may still be eligible to retain the sales tax service fee for local jurisdictions.
Tax rates in the following cities are changed: Aspen, Fort Morgan, Merino, Pagosa Springs, Yuma.
Tax rates in the following counties are changed: Boulder, La Plata, Larimer.
The following new special districts start charging sales tax:
- Aspen Fire Protection District
- Carbondale and Rural Fire Protection District
- Climarron Fire Protection District
- Clifton Fire Protection District
- Evans Fire Protection District
- Lake City Area Protection District
- La Veta Fire Protection District
- South Adams Fire Protection District
- Confluence Early Childhood District
Effective 7/1/2025:
- Tax rate in Woodland Park city is changed.
- The following special districts start charging sales tax: Berthoud Fire Protection District, Cortez Fire Protection District, Eagle River Fire Protection District, Frederick-Firestone Fire Protection District and Dove Creek Ambulance District
Effective 1/1/2025:
- Tax rates in Canon, Holly, Superior, Castle Rock, Denver, Glenwood Springs cities are changed.
- Arriba, Crook, Leadville cities start charging sales tax.
- Tax rates in San Miguel Authority for Regional Transportation, Southwest Plaza Metropolitan MDT and Ute Pass Regional HSD special districts are changed.
Effective 7/1/2024:
Tax rates in Deer Trail, Dolores, Garden City, Lyons, and South Fork cities are changed.
Effective 1/1/2024:
Tax rates in Cripple Creek, Eaton, La Junta, Romeo Yampa, Castle Pines, Fort Collins, Lone Tree, Louisville cities, and Bachelor Gulch MDT special districts have been changed.
