2024 Sales Tax Rate Changes By State
This post is to track the states that have sales tax changes for general tangible items in 2024. Many states have different sales tax rates for other items such as rental, manufacturing equipment, lodging and autos. Some states have different use tax rates than sale tax rates.
Normally voters decide the sales tax rates. States and local tax jurisdictions publish sales tax rate changes and their effective dates after voter approvals. Tax rate change frequency varies from state to state. It could be monthly, quarterly, semi-yearly, yearly or as needed.
