2026 Washington Sales Tax Rate Changes

This post is to keep track of 2026 Washington sales  tax rate changes for general tangible items. To learn more about how sales tax works in Washington, read Washington Sales Tax Fact Sheet.

Effective 1/1/2026:
  1. Tax rates in the following cities are changed:
    Algona, Bellingham, Bingen, Black Diamond, Cashmere, Centralia, Cle Elum, Des Moines, Duvall, East Wenatchee, Edmonds, Elma, Issaquah, Kalama, Kent, Lynden, Renton, Ridgefield, SeaTac, Seattle, Spikane, Sumner
  2. Tax rates in the following counties are changed: Island, King, Kickitat, Walla Walla, Yakima

Effective 7/1/2025:
  1. The following taxing jurisdictions have changed their sales and use tax:
    • Stevenson (Skamania county)
    • County of San Juan

Effective 4/1/2025:
  1. Camas, Chelan, Coulee Dam, Kennewick, La Center, Langley, Longview, Lynden, Moses Lake, Nespelem, Okanogan, Omak, Puyallup, Spokane, Vancouver and Town of Yarrow Point have changed their local tax rates or added new location codes.
  2. County of Chelan, Ferry, Jefferson and San Juan have changed their local tax rates or added new location codes.

Effective 1/1/2025:
  1. Local tax rate in Gig Harbor and Snoqualmie cities are changed.
  2. The following special districts start charging sales tax: Burlington Transportation Benefit District, Covington Transportation Benefit District, Gig Harbor Transportation Benefit District, La Conner Transportation Benefit District, Maple Valley Transportation Benefit District and Pullman Transportation Benefit District.

Effective 7/1/2024:
  1. Local tax rate in Snoqualmie city is changed.
  2. Local tax rate in Mason and Pacific counties are changed.

  2. Local tax rate changes in Chelan, Douglas and San Juan counties
