Effective 1/1/2026:

Effective January 1, 2026, Marine Township was annexed into the Metro-East Mass Transit District (MED). Marine is the only municipality in the township.

 

City tax rates in the following cities are changed:

Antioch, Ashley, Benton, Bourbonnais, Bowen, Calumet City, Cary, Cedar Point, Centralia, Champaign, Chatham, Colp, Cuba, Darien, Dowell, Downers Grove, Effingham, Energy, Fox Lake, Fox River Grove, Genoa, Girard, Glendale Heights, Glenwood, Godfrey, Golconda, Green Oaks, Green Valley, Gurnee, Hartsburg, Heyworth, Homewood, Itasca, Johnsburg, Kewanee, Lake Villa, Lakemoor, Leland Grove, Malden, Manlius, Marine, Marseilles, Maryville, McCullom Lake, Neponset, New Lenox, Ottawa, Palos Park, Rochelle, Round Lake, Round Lake Beach, Sheffield, St. Joseph, Summit, Symerton, Tinley Park, Tiskilwa, Toledo, Valier, Wauconda, Williamsville, Willisville, Winfield, Woodstock

The following Business Districts start charging sales tax:

  • Cherry Valley CherryVale Mall Area Business District
  • Coal Valley Business Development District No. 1
  • Creve Coeur Business Development District No. 1
  • Dwight Business Development District No. 1
  • Lincoln Highway and 159 Business District
  • The Village of Indian Head Park Triangle Area Business District

  • O’Fallon Pierce Boulevard Business District
  • O’Fallon Park Place Business District
  • O’Fallon W Hwy 50 & N Green Mount Road Business District
  • Quincy 54th Street Business District
  • Vandalia W Randolph St and Veterans Ave Business District

Effective 7/1/2025:

Home Rule or Non-Home Rule sales tax rates are changed in following jurisdictions: Addison, Anna, Arlington, Bartlett, Blue Island, Bull Valley, Charleston, Colfax, Colona, Cornell, Danvers, Deer Creek, De Pue, Dover, Farmer City, Glen Carbon, Hamel, Harrisburg, Highwood, Hudson, Kenilworth, Knoxville, Ladd, Le Roy, Morton, Mount Carmel, New Athens, Newman, Richmond, Sherman, Sleepy Hollow, South Elgin, Spring Grove, Spring Valley, St. Anne, Tonica, Troy, Westmont, Williamsfield, Wonder Lake, Woodson, Wyanet.

Sales tax rates in McLean and Whiteside counties are changed.

Following special districts start charging sales tax: Bartonville Business Development District No. 1(Bartonville), Janson Ford Business District (Breese), Downtown and Dundee Crossing Business District (East Dundee), Montrose Business District (Montrose), Parkway I-280 Business District (Rock Island)

Effective 1/1/2025:

Following jurisdictions start charging sales tax: Altona (Knox county), Centralia (In Clinton, Jefferson, Marion and Washington counties), Clinton (De Witt county), Coffeen (Montgomery county), Ford Height (Cook county), Gibson (Ford county), Grant Park (Kankakee county), Hampshire (Kane county), Hawthorn Woods (Lake county), Hillside (Cook county), Hillsboro (Montgomery county), Kildeer (Lake county), Lake Zurich (Lake county), Limstone (Kankakee county), Mapleton (Peoria county), Mendota (LaSalle county), Minooka (Grundy, Kendall and will counties), Nokomis (Montgomery county), Pontiac (Livingston county) and Potomac (Vermillion county)

Home Rule or Non-Home Rule sales tax rates are changed in following jurisdictions: Bartonville (Peoria county), Collinsville (Madison and St. Claire counties), Lockport (Will county), Prospect Heights (Cook county), Richton Park (Cook county) and South Pekin (Tazewell county).

Following special districts start charging sales tax: Nokomis Business District, Vermilion Plaze Business District and St. Elmo business district.

Sales tax rate in Richton Park Sauk Trail Business District is changed.

Home Rule or Non-Home Rule sales tax rates are changed in following jurisdictions: Addison, Freeport, Mundelein, North Aurora, Pingree Grove, Shorewood and Woodridge in Cook, Dupage and Will counties.

Home Rule or Non-Home Rule sales tax rates are changed in following jurisdictions and county: Crystal Lake in McHenry county and Marengo in McHenry county
